Gordon Emery

Jiu-Jitsu Teacher

Gordon began training the martial arts in 2002 with Wing Chun Kung Fu. In 2004, he discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at a local club in Charlottesville run by Lamonte Tyler. In 2007, he inherited the club when Lamonte moved away. Gordon then renamed the program Charlottesville Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In 2008, he moved to a new facility on Concord Avenue, allowing a six-day training week and offering a new Muay Thai program headed by Muay Thai ace Jun Ortega.

Gordon is a certified International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Brown Belt and the Main Jiu-Jitsu Instructor at Cville BJJ. He also teaches Mauy Thai and runs the Conditioning classes.

Gordon has also trained in Judo since 2005 and Muay Thai since 2007 and is certified as a US Grappling Referee and has been certified in First Aid and CPR.

Mike Allen

Muay Thai Coach

Mike started martial arts in 1996 with Jeet Kune Do. As a member of the armed forces, he was taught Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu. Intrigued with what he learned he began more serious Jiu-Jitsu training in 2001. In 2004, he began training Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai with a number of instructors around the Central Virginia area. In 2008, he found his home at Cville BJJ.

Mike is a two stripe Purple Belt in Jiu-Jitsu and teaches Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu classes at Cville BJJ.

John McCune

Kids & Juniors Coach

John began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Gordon in 2007 and Muay Thai with Jun Ortega in 2008. He has been a dedicated student of Cville BJJ since he started and has helped tremendously in expanding our programs.

John is a Purple Belt in Jiu-Jitsu and  runs our Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program.
