Yoga is a special way of stretching combined with breathing and mental focus in a flow to strengthen, calm and unify the body. It has been used in various forms for over 5000 years to keep the body, mind and spirit balanced for a long healthy life.

IMG_0180 This type of Yoga is amazingly helpful to develop good flexibility, body and breath control as well as a great practice to enhance your Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. The Ashtanga style is one of the more intense styles of Yoga but is easy for anyone to practice. With 3 months consistent practice anyone can increase their flexibility.

Yoga has also been an essential tool that professional athletes have used over many years as a way to build core strength, flexibility, concentration, breath and body control.

Becoming proficient in Jiu-Jitsu requires an advanced kinesthetic awareness. Yoga practice helps develops this. Top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black belts like Rickson, Royler, Royce and Relson Gracie, Wallid Ismail, Phil and Rick Migliarese, Murilo Bustamante, Nino Shembri, Vitor Belfort, Fernando “Margarida” Pontes, Ricardo Liborio, Wallid Ismael, Diego Sanchez, Eddie Bravo, Stephen Kesting, and Roger Machado (that’s just naming a few) all have included yoga in their training.

Another benefit of practicing Yoga is that it can prevent injuries. All sports, especially Martial Arts, come with their common injuries. Most commonly people get injured due to muscle imbalances and incorrect alignment when training hard. Regular practice of this Yoga will balance your muscle strengths and build proper alignment to provide stability and injury prevention.IMG_0113

Yoga will also enhance your training experience to it fullest potential. The practice calms the mind and body as one heightens self-awareness and gives a better sense of what your body is capable of.

Our class does not practice the entire seated Primary series and it lasts for only an hour instead of the traditional 1.5 – 2 hours.

Regular workout clothes are worn (shorts and a t-shirt).

Classes are available to all students with full membership.
