Kids BJJ

Our kids of today are our leaders of tomorrow and we strive to give them as much as we can to allow their true potential to come forth. Jiu-jitsu is beneficial in so many ways to those who practice it. Our kids will learn good sportsmanship alongside of developing strong physical and mental capabilities. Our techniques aren’t based on kicking and punching. Nor are they based on katas or a prearranged set of movements carried out on cooperative training partners. Instead, our kids will learn how to apply grappling techniques on a resisting partner who’s not cooperating and is counteracting with his own moves. This is the main reason why they develop such a high level of confidence within the first year. The way we train is much like how physical confrontations take place in the streets, opponent fully resisting and trying to apply his/her own moves.

Here are some of our Program values:

  • Respect and Sportsmanship – We have a strong appreciation for respecting one another and emphasize it in our classes.
  • Focus and Determination – Jiu-Jitsu practice will put one in the moment to solve the problem at hand.
  • Coordination, Balance, Agility – All good physical traits, plus more, that stem from Jiu-Jitsu training.
  • Exercise – Kids need an outlet for their energy. Exercise is also needed for a healthy body and a productive mind. Kids love to get all their energy out in our safe matted area.
  • Self-Confidence – Developing the physical capabilities to defend themselves has tremendous impact on the rest of their lives.

Developing these characteristics in our children early will prepare them for everything life can throw at them; from handling bullies to academic excellence and beyond. Enroll your child today and see for yourself.

Quality Instruction

It’s important to us that all the kids stay on track and get the help they need to progress. We use a lot of volunteer members to assist in our classes. This includes parents and higher ranked Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. This allows us to get to know and coach each child as well as assist them when they need help and keep their minds focused.

A student’s rank is based upon his/her knowledge, physical skill, length of time training, attitude, and overall quality of movement and understanding. While earning any particular rank is an achievement, it is a mistake to place too much focus on this as an end. Focus on training; develop as much skill as possible; have a good and exemplary attitude; everything else will follow naturally.

We divide our children’s classes into two age groups:
Kids program:

Ages 5 – 8 ~ 10am – 10:55am

Our kids wear a school shirt color of rank. Each 10 classes they attend they will be eligible for a stripe on their sleeve. Each shirt color will have 4 stripes before moving into the next color shirt of rank (50 classes). The progression is as follows: starting with yellow, orange, green then blue. Once your child reaches the age of 9 they will be eligible to move into the Juniors program.

Juniors program:

Currently open for enrollment

Ages 9 – 14 ~ 11am – 11:55am

Our juniors wear a traditional Kimono jiu-jitsu uniform called a “Gi”. In this class the students learn more self-defense and the common submissions involved with jiu-jitsu. Each 10 classes your child attends they will be eligible to receive a stripe on their belt. Along with attendance your child will need to demonstrate learned material to be promoted to the next level. The juvenile belt rank progression is as follows: white, grey, yellow, orange, green. Each belt has 4 stripes that are awarded each 10 classes that are attended. Once they have 4 stripes on their belt they will be eligible for the next belt rank. At the age of 14 your child will be eligible to attend the adult classes. At the age of 16 they will be eligible to be promoted to blue belt upon passing a technical examination.
